ANNETTE WOELFEL

Biography

"For many years I have blocked out my longing for colours and creativity. I have always loved to paint, but considered a classical business education and career path more sensible. It was only after surviving a life-threatening illness that my path to art really opened up. Since 2019 I am a freelance artist and live with my family in Bremen, Germany.

Colours in combination with different painting techniques, materials and structures fascinate me. I can use them to express my life, impressions from nature, relationships with people and past or present emotions. I love to try out new things again and again and to experiment freely. Sometimes with a brush or a palette knife, I prefer to go directly into the painting with my hands and create. With large formats I can let off steam and let my creativity run free. Now and then there is also a smaller piece. I like to work in many layers and decide intuitively what an artwork needs - that's how I create expressive portraits and abstract paintings - each one unique. I do what I love: painting.

Some of my artworks have been on display in solo and group exhibitions. This year my paintings will be part of several shows in Hamburg, Bremen and Munich." - Annette Woelfel

Artist Statement

"My artworks are my life story - written in color. My works show thoughts that I sometimes cannot express, but which nevertheless want to be said. They speak a language that is widely understood, without reservation. My art tells untold stories.

The structure of my paintings is as diverse and various as my life. For haptic people it is an experience, because many of my paintings can also be touched and felt. My art is my heart and my soul.“ - Annette Woelfel
