KERSTIN SAGEBIEL

Artist Statement

I have always been creative. However, I found the way to brush and pen only some time ago after surviving cancer. In my family art, architecture and design language were key. My relatives Ernst Sagebiel, architect and builder; and definitely my father Klaus Sagebiel, as a studied artist, have had their influence on me as a person and on my understanding of art and expression.

I was raised with open mind for different techniques, materials and views. Although late in my life, I quickly felt the fulfillment of the process from the beginning to the completion of an image. In a still ongoing experimental phase, I can not say yet where my artistic journey will take me. I would like to leave the viewer the interpretation of my work and I am glad when people find their space and room within.

I am inspired by my feelings and experiences, as well as the world in which I live. The need to create something beautiful without being boring is what drives me.
