Artist Statement

"My work seeks to transmit universal feelings by being experimental and searching for new perspectives and ways to communicate, a constant source of inspiration to develop my art practice. I love to think that such a creative action is not just reduced to the one actually creating the original work, but also transmitted to the viewer who watches, interprets and embraces it, generating a reaction that gives rise to a new message."

Marta Falomir

"I was born in the Mediterranean city of Valencia (Spain). Art and visual expression have been always part of my life since my school days and my university studies in Audiovisual Communication. I remember how much I enjoyed everything related to aesthetics, art and visual layout, spending hours analyzing the composition of a cinema scene or a photography shot, its colors, the meaning it all conveyed to the viewer.

After living for more than a decade in a big city, working in the broadcasting sector as a TV producer and traveling around the world, I decided to start a new life returning to the seaside and moved to the beautiful island of Mallorca. Here I felt the need to express myself at another level and reorient my experience firstly towards photography and collage, starting in 2016 with my self-taught painting studies in watercolor and other techniques."

Inspiration & Process

"The breathtaking and magical landscapes of this island inspired me to develop a new form of visual expression to convey emotions and experiences creating colourful abstract paintings that evoke memories and past experiences adding new impressions and thoughts.

One of the main drivers in my work is the search for contrast through colour, layering and the use of different media. Currently I use watercolours, gouache, pastel sticks, ink, acrylics and water-based spray paint, searching for the perfect combination of techniques and materials for each artwork.

The strokes that generate movement, as well as an intuitive approach, also define my paintings. Even though I begin most of my artworks with a concrete idea or sensation willing to evoke, I allow the process itself to take over at some point, which gives my practice a huge freedom to reach new horizons without limitations."
